Holy Resurrection Monastery Annual Pilgrimage
45704 Valley Center Road
This year marked the 3rd Annual Pilgrimage, in honor of the Mother of God, Searcher of the Lost, put on by the Holy Resurrection Monastery in the California Desert.
On Columbus Day weekend, October 8th through October 10th, hundreds of people traveled long distances to attend this event. With the location in the middle of the desert, (between Bakersfield, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada) pilgrims from California, Nevada, Arizona and even Washington made the effort to get there. Among those in attendance, were not only Ruthenian Byzantine Catholics, but also Melkites, Russians, Ukrainians, Orthodox, and Coptic Orthodox.
Despite the dessert heat (still above 90 degrees) the traditional services were celebrated in full, confessions were heard, and some great food was served. There was even a piņata for the children. If you've never made the journey into the desert to find the Lord, next you should consider attending this very spirit filled pilgrimage.
