things, and the meaning and symbolism behind the different rituals and customs.

This service is done on the Sunday before Lent, also known as Cheese-Fare Sunday in the
Byzantine Churches. The service is in preparation for lent.

'Presanctified'. It is celebrated on Wednesday's and Friday's of Great Lent.
- Washing of Feet
Keeping with Jesus' tradition of washing feet, this service usually proceeds the Divine
Liturgy on Holy Thursday.

Miscaleneous Services
- Akathist Hymns
The akathist is one of the most ancient collection of
prayers in the Byzantine Church. It is a prayer of veneration, thanksgiving and petition.
Here we have an akathist to Jesus, Mary, and one to St. Michael the
Archangel.
- Moleben for Vocations
This is a service led by the Priest, to pray for vocations to the religious life. It
is currently being implemented in many Byzantine Parishes, because of the need for more
