Party With the Pope!
World Youth Day

| "World Youth Day 2000 in Rome was
the most incredible experience of my life. I always wondered
what heaven would be like. At WYD for the first time God gave
me a glimpse of it. Where else could you find millions of
young people from all over the world openly worshipping Jesus!
If you get the opportunity you HAVE to go!!!"

What is World Youth Day?
World Youth Day is actually a week long gathering of
Catholic young people (ages 16-35) from all over the world. There
you will learn about your faith and celebrate it. It is characterized by
the happiness of youth being with the Pope and with each other.
Why Should I Go?
You should go because it is the most awesome spiritual
experience you will ever have. Imagine praising God through the
Holy Mysteries with hundreds of thousands of other people your age from
all over the World. Combine this with the opportunity to go with
other Byzantine Catholics from all over the United States and you're in
for the treat of your life.
When, Where and How Much?
-
When: Tuesday July 23 to Sunday July 28,
2002
-
Where: Toronto, Canada - Very close for
many in the Northeast.
-
How Much: $180 fee covers simple
accommodations, most meals, medical coverage, and public transportation
within Toronto for the week. (It's a great deal!) That fee
also includes $20 to help those who cannot afford to go.
Transportation to Toronto will be extra. (Flights from the West
Coast will be approximately $400-500.)
Who is organizing this Byzantine Catholic Group?
The Inter-Eparchial Youth Commission for the Archeparchy
of Pittsburgh is responsible. Each individual Eparchy has a
coordinator, who will handle the details of that Eparchy.
What are the deadlines?
Note: Obviously deadlines are there for a
reason. But if you've missed a deadline and really really want to
go (which you should!) we all know God is bigger than deadlines and we
can probably find a way. ;-)
January 12, 2002 - Have mailed check for $10 (solidarity
fee) and your name into your Eparchy Youth Official.
January 31, 2002 - Have individual registration forms filled out and
sent along with the registration fee of $170 to your Eparchy Youth
Official. No other Deadlines at this time.
I Can't Afford to go!
Talk with your Pastor and see if you can volunteer at
Parish fundraisers and then have some of those proceeds donated to your
trip costs. Where there's a will there is a way!
